Size & Fit Guide

Use this guide alongside the size chart shown on each product. Product-specific measurements and available options always take priority because different suit designs can have different cuts, fabrics and age ranges.

Before you measure

  1. Use a soft tape measure and measure the child, not a garment.
  2. Stand naturally and keep the tape level without pulling it tight.
  3. Measure over light clothing or directly on the body for the clearest result.
  4. Record the measurement in the unit used by the product chart.

Key measurements

Chest

Measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping the tape high under the arms.

Waist

Measure around the waist where the trousers will sit. For products with an elasticated waistband, use the product’s stated trouser-waist chart as the selection reference.

Inside leg

Measure from the crotch to the point where the trouser hem should finish on the shoe. Some product trousers are supplied longer so they can be adjusted to the child’s height.

Jacket fit

The shoulder seam should sit close to the shoulder edge, the collar should lie flat, and the front should close without pulling. Allow room for comfortable movement and the shirt or waistcoat worn underneath.

Choosing between options

If a child is between ages or measurements, compare the chest, waist and inside-leg information together rather than choosing from age alone. If the product page lists a specific measurement—for example an 11–12 trouser waist of 27.5 inches—use that product chart when making the final choice.
